Right-back Ignazio Abate could miss AC Milan's UEFA Champions League quarter-final opener after being ruled out for two weeks with a thigh strain.
The Italy defender, 25, picked up the injury in training today, with a club statement saying: "Ignazio Abate has undergone scans which revealed a muscle strain in his right thigh. The prognosis is two weeks out unless there are complications." Abate has played in seven UEFA Champions League games this season and 23 more in Serie A.
Following their round of 16 success against Arsenal FC, Milan have joined Chelsea FC, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona, APOEL FC, FC Bayern München, Olympique de Marseille and SL Benfica in Friday's draw as the competition reaches its business end. The quarter-finals will take place on 27/28 March and 3/4 April.
