AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta will be out of action for up to four weeks after damaging a pelvic muscle during his side's 3-2 UEFA Champions League defeat by FC Barcelona on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old former Italian international limped out with 24 minutes left of the Group H encounter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Milan say that subsequent tests have confirmed "damage to the muscle" which will keep him sidelined for a month.
Nesta will therefore miss the Rossoneri's final group game at FC Viktoria Plzeň on 6 December as well as the five Serie A matches that remain before the winter break. Milan have already qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16, although their hopes of finishing first were dashed by Wednesday's reverse. Consequently they will be paired with group winners in the 16 December draw.
