Dortmund have it all to do as Olympiacos visit

Borussia Dortmund are still without a win after three Group F matches and will be looking for an improvement when they face Olympiacos FC for the second time at the BVB Stadion.

• The reverse fixture on 19 October gave Olympiacos their first points in this season's competition, a 3-1 victory in Piraeus taking the Greek champions above their opponents although still three points behind second-placed Olympique de Marseille.

• Olympiacos had opened their campaign with a 1-0 home loss against Marseille, the subsequent 2-1 defeat at Arsenal FC leaving Ernesto Valverde's side bottom of the standings before their matchday three success.

• Dortmund had Ivan Perišić to thank for rescuing a 1-1 matchday one draw against Arsenal with a stunning late equaliser, but they came unstuck in France in their second fixture, a clinical counterattacking display giving Marseille a 3-0 success. The defeat in Greece last time out leaves the German side bottom of the section, five points adrift of second-placed Marseille.

• This is Dortmund's seventh participation in the UEFA Champions League but before the game in Piraeus they had not faced Greek opponents in UEFA competition.

• In 1997 Dortmund became the first UEFA Champions League winners from Germany, beating Juventus 3-1 in Munich.

• At home in their last campaign, in 2002/03, Dortmund beat Arsenal and AJ Auxerre and drew 1-1 with PSV Eindhoven to finish with ten points, level with section winners Arsenal but second on head to head record. In the second group stage they beat FC Lokomotiv Moskva 3-0 at home but lost to AC Milan 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Real Madrid CF.

• Olympiacos are in their 13th participation in the UEFA Champions League. Between 1997 and 2008 they competed in the competition for 11 successive years.

• They won on their last visit to Germany for a European fixture – 3-1 at SV Werder Bremen in the 2007/08 group stage – but prior to that had lost all three away games without scoring a goal, conceding six in the process.

• In their last participation two years ago, the Greek champions finished second in their group, three points behind Arsenal. On their travels they failed to score a single goal, going down 2-0 at both Arsenal and R. Standard de Liège before a 0-0 stalemate at AZ Alkmaar. In the knockout rounds, they lost 1-0 to FC Girondins de Bordeaux in Athens and 2-1 away.

Team ties
• Lucas Barrios scored Paraguay's second goal in a 2-0 win against Greece in a FIFA World Cup warm-up game on 2 June 2010 in Winterthur, Switzerland. Avraam Papadopoulos and Vassilis Torossidis were in the Greece lineup.

• Marko Pantelić scored twice in eight matches against Dortmund when he was with Hertha BSC Berlin between 2005 and 2009. For the last two seasons there he was a team-mate of Łukasz Piszczek.

• Pantelić and Ljubomir Fejsa are team-mates of Neven Subotić in the Serbia national squad.

• José Holebas and Sven Bender were together at TSV 1860 München, Holebas playing for the Löwen between 2006 and 2010 and Bender from 2006 to 2009. Moritz Leitner was in 1860's youth department at the time.

• Antônio da Silva and Franco Costanzo played together at FC Basel 1893 in 2009/10, when the Swiss outfit competed in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

• Mohamed Zidan was on target as Egypt beat an Algeria team featuring Djamel Abdoun 4-0 in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.

• Sebastien Kehl was a late substitute as Germany reached the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup with a 2-0 last-16 win against a Sweden team including Olof Mellberg in Munich on 24 June 2006.
