Boerrigter upbeat after Ajax win at Dinamo

Derk Boerrigter shared in AFC Ajax's relief after notching the first in a 2-0 Group D win at GNK Dinamo Zagreb, whose inability to score in Europe is infuriating their players.

Derk Boerrigter and Miralem Sulejmani beamed with pleasure at a job well done after AFC Ajax chalked up their first UEFA Champions League Group D victory at GNK Dinamo Zagreb. In contrast, the Croatian side's strikers bemoaned their inefficiency in front of goal and hope to set the record straight in Amsterdam on matchday four.

Derk Boerrigter, Ajax forward
We haven't won in six games, so tonight's result is good news. We can now fight for second place in our group and I believe we can achieve it. Overall I'm happy with how I played and how we played as a team here at the Maksimir. I thought our midfield played especially well tonight. We didn't underestimate Dinamo, as what we saw on video showed us that Zagreb have a good squad. I am little surprised that we won as easily as we did, though; perhaps I expected more from them.

Miralem Sulejmani, Ajax forward
First of all I'd like to thank the Dinamo Zagreb players for their fair play tonight and their fans for the great atmosphere they produced. Dinamo are a good team who can score goals, but we defended well. We played well here in Zagreb and deserved to win. Now our chances of playing in Europe in the spring are healthy.

Sammir, Dinamo forward
When Ajax scored their first, I knew it was over. We didn't take our chances, and they did. I don't know why we make so many mistakes. Our tactics disappeared after Ajax scored.

Fatos Beqiraj, Dinamo forward
I don't know why we can't score. Tomorrow when I wake up, I will analyse everything. I don't know what to say, but if we want to achieve something, we have to wake up.

Mateo Kovačić, Dinamo midfielder
I am really sorry that yet again we didn't score. It's unbelieveable. We had chances, but in UEFA Champions League football you have to convert even half-chances if you want to get a result.

Jerko Leko, Dinamo midfielder
Ajax played extremely well. In every second of the game their players were in the right positions. Real Madrid have great strength because of individual players, but Ajax are great as a team. We will not give up, we will try to spring a surprise at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Ivan Kelava, Dinamo goalkeeper
We knew that this was going to be an open match and so it proved. There were a lot of chances in the game. Unfortunately we didn't score, but we fought bravely. I hope there will come a day when our strikers will start to score some goals.
