I'm very happy with how the game went and with the attitude of my players, especially as we were up against a great team. A draw was a fair result, even more so when you consider the fine performance of our goalkeeper, Diego Alves balancing out the good chances we created. We are happy with a point; however, we will have to improve in front of goal to pick up all three in future.
The team are creating good vibes going forward but we have to improve on our final ball. I'm convinced we will eventually get better on all fronts. The next two games [against Bayer 04 Leverkusen] will almost be like a knockout tie. We will take a positive attitude into those matches. We have to prepare well in order to have that all important edge over them. I am still confident.
André Villas-Boas, Chelsea manager
It's a pity because we looked good to get the three points, but it was a very good performance from the team. We deserved to win. Even when Valencia got it back to 1-1 we had chances but we couldn't take them. I'm very happy with everyone's performance, of course; we had very, very good opportunities to go 2-0 up and we just couldn't find the back of the net. It was very, very unlucky.
The performance was solid and a draw away from home; if it's offered to you before you take it. So near to a win, it leaves you with a strange feeling but we're in a good position still in the group. We're looking forward to the Genk games; they're going to be difficult, of course, but if we get six points out of them we're almost ensured qualification.
