Olympiacos coach Ernesto Valverde
It was a disadvantage for us not to have played an official match this season before tonight. Marseille were well prepared and were very strong. They were better than us in the first half but we picked up in the second and got back into it. We had chances to equalise but didn't take them and we ran out of strength in the final 20 minutes.
We're going to London to win our next match [against Arsenal FC], although we know how difficult that will be to achieve. The Champions League is different to the domestic league and it's difficult to create many chances. We didn't have many while Marseille had just one chance in the second half but we want to work on our endurance and fluidity.

It was a difficult game; we made it even more so at the end with some stupid decisions. We knew that here a mistake could be harmful, but this did not affect us tonight. We must be able to control our games better, but after the start to the season we have experienced [no win in five Ligue 1 game], we are satisfied to have won here. We won't complain. It's good to be winning again.
A victory is always enjoyable, especially in the Champions League. These games are always more demanding and you need to be more focused. It was far from easy. They have good full-backs; [Vassilis] Torossidis and [José] Holebas are very attacking players. It was important to stop them on the flanks. Jérémy Morel on the left and Morgan Amalfitano on the right delivered good performances. Lucho [González] has his ups and downs but he is a high-quality player who we're lucky to still have on board. He is technically skilful and scores goals for us.
