Experienced Brazil defender Lúcio has signed a new contract with FC Internazionale Milano until June 2014.
The deal represents a two-year extension for the former Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern München centre-back, who won the UEFA Champions League in his first season with Internazionale in 2009/10 along with the Scudetto and Coppa Italia. Last season's runners-up finish in Serie A ensured another group stage campaign for the Nerazzurri and the 33-year-old Lúcio will be part of it.
Lúcio arrived at Inter in 2009 from Bayern, where he had picked up three domestic doubles in five seasons after a switch from Leverkusen, for whom he scored in the 2002 UEFA Champions League final loss to Real Madrid CF. The ex SC Internacional player has been capped more than 100 times by Brazil and in addition to the 2002 FIFA World Cup he lifted the FIFA Confederations Cup in both 2005 and 2009.
