Samir Handanovič has signed a three-year contract extension with UEFA Champions League play-off contenders Udinese Calcio.
The new terms will keep the Slovenian international, 27, at the Serie A club until 2016. Handanovič joined the Zebrette from NK Domžale in 2004 and had loan spells at Treviso FC, S.S. Lazio and Rimini Calcio before making the No1 spot his own in 2007/08.
Ever-present for his country in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying thus far, Handanovič made 35 league appearances for Udinese last term and saved six out of eight penalties as the Friulani finished fourth to qualify for the play-offs. They will discover their opponents in Friday's draw as they bid to reach the group stage for the first time since 2005/06.
