UEFA Champions League contenders Panathinaikos FC have announced the loan signing of forward Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.
Owusu-Abeyie, 25, has agreed to move to the Greek capital from Qatari side al-Sadd Club until the end of the 2011/12 campaign. It is the latest in a series of loan transfers for the Ghanaian international, who joined al-Sadd from FC Spartak Moskva in April last year.
The Dutch-born ex-Arsenal FC player counts Málaga CF, Portsmouth FC, Cardiff City FC, Birmingham City FC and RC Celta de Vigo among his other former temporary employers.
Panathinaikos have also made two Spanish acquisitions in recent days. Defensive midfielder Víctor Vitolo, 27, has accepted a three-year deal with the Greens having arrived on a free transfer from PAOK FC. Striker José Verdú Nicolás 'Toché' has penned similar terms, with the 28-year-old coming in from FC Cartagena.
Greek Super League runners-up last term, Panathinaikos were dealt a blow this week with the news Greece forward Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, 24, could be out of action for five months following surgery on a cruciate ligament injury.
Panathinaikos begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round against Odense BK, with the first leg taking place in Denmark next week.
