Brazilian midfielder Alan Patrick has joined Ukrainian Premier League champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk from Copa Libertadores winners Santos FC on a five-year deal.

Ukrainian champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk have signed Alan Patrick from Copa Libertadores winners Santos FC for a fee reported to be in the region of €4m.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who scored seven goals in 39 appearances for the Brazilian club, has signed a five-year deal with the Pitmen ahead of their 2011/12 UEFA Champions League group stage campaign. He will join eight of his countryman at Shakhtar, who won a league and cup double last term.
