Didier Deschamps has signed a two-year extension to his contract as Olympique de Marseille coach.
Deschamps, who last season guided OM to the runners-up spot in Ligue 1 having led them to the title in his first term in charge, is now tied to the club until 2014. "I now know where we stand financially and I can prepare the most competitive team possible," said the 42-year-old, who won the 1993 UEFA Champions League as a player with Marseille.
Marseille received another boost ahead of next season's UEFA Champions League group stage with the signing of attacking midfielder Morgan Amalfitano on a four-year deal from FC Lorient.
"It's a great honour to join this fantastic club," said Amalfitano, who featured in all 38 Ligue 1 games for Lorient last season, scoring five goals. "I'm on my way up so I'm really happy. It's a milestone in my career."
