Rio Ferdinand has been ruled out for two weeks with a calf problem sustained in the warm-up before Manchester United FC's 2-1 defeat by Woverhampton Wanderers FC on Saturday.
Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the extent of centre-back's injury after watching his team suffer their first defeat in 30 Premier League matches dating back to 3 April. "He's done his calf and that's him out for a couple of weeks I believe," said the United manager.
Should that be the case, the 32-year-old defender is unlikely to have had any match practice before United visit Olympique de Marseille in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie on 23 February.
