Tottenham Hotspur FC midfielder Luka Modrić faces a fortnight on the sidelines having undergone surgery to remove his appendix.
Modrić, 25, played for the entirety of Tottenham's 4-0 FA Cup fourth round defeat at Fulham FC on Sunday, but was subsequently diagnosed with "acute appendicitis after contacting our medical staff complaining of abdominal discomfort", said a club statement. "He is liklely to be sidelined for around two weeks."
Harry Redknapp's side resume UEFA Champions League action on 15 February, when they visit AC Milan for the first leg of the their round of 16 tie. The White Hart Lane return takes place on 9 March. Modrić featured four times as the competition debutants topped Group A, ahead of holders FC Internazionale Milano.
