FC Barcelona have tied down midfielder Sergio Busquets until at least 2015 after the Spanish international agreed terms on a two-year contract extension.
A product of the Barcelona youth academy, Busquets declared himself "very happy" with the new deal which includes the possibility of an extra season depending on appearances. "I'm still very young and I'm hoping for a success-filled career here," the 22-year-old said.
The son of former Barcelona goalkeeper Carlos Busquets, Sergio Busquets has scored two goals in 73 Liga appearances for the Blaugrana since making his debut in 2008. He was also part of the Spain team that triumphed at last summer's FIFA World Cup and has racked up 25 international caps to date.
Liga leaders Barcelona face Arsenal FC in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, with the first leg taking place on 16 February and the return at Camp Nou scheduled for 8 March.
