FC Barcelona forward Bojan Krkić admitted he hoped to "continue to improve" after penning a two-year contract extension that ties him to his boyhood club until 30 June 2015.

The 20-year-old – who has scored 38 goals in 146 appearances for Josep Guardiola's side since making his senior debut in 2007 – also sees his buy-out clause increase to €100m. "Signing this new contract certainly makes me feel more relaxed," said the La Masia youth product, who is now in his eleventh year with the Azulgrana and has one cap for Spain.

"When the club gives you the chance of signing a deal for so many years it demonstrates that they have confidence in you. I hope things continue to improve for me and that I can demonstrate that I am worthy of my place here," added the 2007 UEFA European Under-17 Championship winner.

Barça face Arsenal FC in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 with the first leg taking place on 16 February before the return encounter at Camp Nou on 8 March.
