FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Arsenal FC and AS Roma claimed the last UEFA Champions League round of 16 places on offer as the group stage concluded on Wednesday.
Three teams remained in Group H contention as the action got under way and Shakhtar secured a 2-0 win against SC Braga to go through in first place, with Arsenal beating the Portuguese debutants to second with a 3-1 defeat of FK Partizan.
Roma, meanwhile, drew 1-1 at CFR 1907 Cluj to finish second in Group E ahead of FC Basel 1893, who like Braga and AFC Ajax – 2-0 winners at AC Milan – will go into the UEFA Europa League round of 32 after ending third in their sections. Groups A to D ended on Tuesday.
