Real Madrid CF striker Sergio Canales will miss Wednesday's final UEFA Champions League group encounter against AJ Auxerre with a left ankle sprain.
The 19-year-old – who has made seven appearances for Los Merengues since his summer move from Real Racing Club – will be out of action for a month after picking up the knock during a training session. However, Madrid will top Group G regardless of their result in midweek.
Meanwhile, Madrid's medical department continue to express concern over striker Gonzalo Higuaín who has been sidelined with a herniated disc since 20 November. The club will be seeking a second opinion from specialists before deciding whether to operate on the Argentinian international.
