Twente hit by Ruiz injury

FC Twente have lost striker Bryan Ruiz until 2011 after the Costa Rican international suffered meniscus damage in his left knee during a 4-2 Eredivisie win at NEC Nijmegen on Saturday.

FC Twente will have to cope without Bryan Ruiz for the rest of the year after the Costa Rican international striker injured his knee in Eredivisie action on Saturday.

Ruiz scored twice in a 4-2 win at NEC Nijmegen − the Enschede outfit's first victory in three league games − but left the pitch on a stretcher nine minutes from time. Tests on Sunday revealed the 25-year-old has suffered meniscus damage in his left knee and he will now undergo an operation on Monday.

"This means Bryan Ruiz will not play for FC Twente again before the winter break," read a club statement. Twente are certain of finishing third in UEFA Champions League Group A and earning a berth in the UEFA Europa League ahead of their home game with Tottenham Hotspur FC on 7 December.
