FC Rubin Kazan goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov has signed a two-year contract extension with the Russian club.

The 30-year-old needed little persuasion to lengthen the terms of his previous deal, set to expire in 2012, which he penned in late July. "I didn't have any doubts about accepting the offer," said Ryzhikov, who joined from FC Lokomotiv Moskva in 2008. "I have found my team here and that is why negotiations were short."

The former FC Anzhi Makhachkala and FC Tom Tomsk player missed his first Premier-Liga game of the season on Saturday when Rubin drew 2-2 with newly-crowned champions FC Zenit St Petersburg, a result which means Kurban Berdyev's side will finish third and thus enter next season's UEFA Champions League campaign in the qualifying stages.
