Luuk de Jong has strengthened his commitment to FC Twente by prolonging his stay at the club by a further two years.
Signed from De Graafschap in the summer of 2009, the 20-year-old forward has agreed a new deal keeping him with the UEFA Champions League contenders until 2014, with the option to stay on a further year. "I'm happy to have been able to extend my contract," said De Jong. "Things are going well at FC Twente. The club is developing nicely and as a player I've noticed that I'm improving with every game and can develop further. This club is a good place to be for me."
The younger brother of AFC Ajax midfielder Siem de Jong, he has become a regular starter under coach Michel Preud'homme this season, scoring six goals in 14 Eredivisie matches and one UEFA Champions League strike in his side's 2-0 success at SV Werder Bremen on Matchday 4. Twente lie two points shy of Tottenham Hotspur FC and FC Internazionale Milano in Group A, with a trip to face Inter scheduled for next Wednesday.
