Filippo Inzaghi could miss the rest of the season after damaging knee ligaments during AC Milan's 3-1 home win against US Città di Palermo on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old forward was replaced by Robinho with ten minutes remaining of a victory which allowed the Rossoneri to assume top spot in Serie A. Tests on Thursday confirmed that the former Italian international, who had entered the fray midway through the second half when he came on for Pato, damaged the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee.
Inzaghi will undergo surgery and is expected to be sidelined for six months. Last week the former Juventus striker drew level with Raúl González on 70 goals at the top of the UEFA club competition scoring chart after striking twice in a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid CF.
