Benítez hails Inter's all-round effort

Samuel Eto'o scored a hat-trick and set up another, but FC Internazionale Milano coach Rafael Benítez was keen to extend credit for the 4-0 victory over SV Werder Bremen to the whole team.

Rafael Benítez was reluctant to single out Samuel Eto'o as his star performer after the Cameroon striker scored a hat-trick and set up another as FC Internazionale Milano swept aside SV Werder Bremen 4-0. "Eto'o had a brilliant game," he said, "because the whole team was very good." Only, countered Thomas Schaaf, because his side made it easy.

Rafael Benítez, Inter coach
We have many champions and many young, talented players; the secret is finding the perfect balance. We played well tonight: now me must continue on this path. We didn't feel any pressure after losing [to AS Roma] and I'm quite satisfied with our performance there: we had around 15 shots on goal. I'm sure that playing with the right intensity Inter can beat anyone.

Eto'o had a brilliant game because the whole team was very good. He is dangerous when plays in the middle, but also when he starts on the left. Now we have to focus on Sunday's game with Juventus. Maybe we can adopt the same tactics as tonight.

Thomas Schaaf, Bremen coach
We weren't in the game today. We made life very easy for Inter; we made it very easy for them to score and we weren't able to hurt them. Of course, our defence had a lot of problems, but it's not only an issue with our defence; the whole team should have played differently. Sometimes you have to put your opponents under pressure, you have to make them chase you: that didn't happen.

We made a lot of individual mistakes but also a lot of errors as a team – we didn't help each other. Despite our injury problems we had ten internationals on the pitch. They should have performed but they didn't. That's something we will have to talk about.
