Striker Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of Manchester United FC's UEFA Champions League Group C match at Valencia CF on Wednesday through injury, joining Ryan Giggs on the sidelines.
Both players were injured in Sunday's 2-2 Premier League draw at Bolton Wanderers FC, with Rooney substituted after 61 minutes with an ankle problem. Though the complaint is not believed to be serious, United announced on Monday that the striker would not be travelling to Valencia.
The 36-year-old Giggs, meanwhile, had to be substituted 53 minutes into the match at Bolton and has also now been ruled out. "It's a hamstring injury and he'll be out for a couple of weeks," said manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Valencia top the section after kicking off with 4-0 rout of Bursaspor while United were held 0-0 by Rangers FC.
