Bursaspor and Braga register league wins

Bursaspor and SC Braga recorded home wins on Friday, though draws were the prevailing outcome elsewhere for four other UEFA Champions League contenders.

Hüseyin Çimşir's first league goal since March 2008 was enough for leaders Bursaspor to prolong their 100% start to the Turkish season and ensure they visit Rangers FC on Wednesday in high spirits. Braga had a more comfortable night ahead of their game against FC Shakhtar Donetsk, with Mossoró, an Orestes own goal and Paulo César on target in a 3-1 defeat of Liga strugglers A. Naval 1° Maio.

Aiden McGeady's maiden goal for FC Spartak Moskva, meanwhile, salvaged the capital club a 2-2 home draw with lowly FC Amkar Perm. Welliton had initially equalised for Spartak – at home to MŠK Žilina next week – in the first half.

CFR 1907 Cluj's disappointing run of form continued with a 1-1 draw at city rivals FC Universitatea Cluj. Lacina Traoré restored parity on the half-hour mark for CFR, whose nine-point haul from as many games is their worst start to a campaign since returning to Liga 1 in 2004. Sorin Cârţu's team travel to AS Roma aiming to build on their Matchday 1 victory against FC Basel 1893.

Žilina were also held, drawing 0-0 at home with DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda. Žilina are the only unbeaten side in the Slovakian Superliga but will nonetheless lose top spot if FK Senica defeat third-placed MFK Ružomberok on Sunday. There were also no goals in Belgrade, where FK Partizan's unblemished league record came to an end against FK Spartak Zlatibor Voda. Partizan host Arsenal FC on Tuesday.
