Mourinho expects more from Madrid

José Mourinho believes there is plenty more to come from Real Madrid CF despite a comfortable opening win against AFC Ajax. "We weren't clinical enough," said the Portuguese after a 2-0 win, while Martin Jol knows things could have been much worse were it not for his goalkeeper.

We played very well and put them under a lot of pressure without letting Ajax play their game. Sooner or later a team are going to suffer for all the chances we create. It was a game of boys against boys because Madrid have a lot of young players if you take out [Iker] Casillas and [Ricardo] Carvalho, and Xabi Alonso as he's the daddy. Maybe because we put them under so much pressure my forwards weren't so sharp in front of goal.

We weren't clinical enough but we won because we dominated the game. It could have been a much bigger win but in games like this how many goals you score isn't as important as in the knockout rounds. We don't have to worry about Cristiano Ronaldo and [Gonzalo] Higuaín because a lot of coaches would love to have a forward line of those two. The goals will come.

This match was men against boys. Luckily we had Maarten Stekelenburg standing tall, and that's why it was only 2-0 in the end. We fell short in every department. At 1-0 you hope you can still do something but tonight that just wasn't the case.

When Cristiano Ronaldo finds his range he will score three goals in a game like this. It was an annoying and tough evening. We will have to learn from this experience for our next match against AC Milan.
