Tottenham Hotspur FC defender Michael Dawson could be out for up to two months after spraining his left medial knee ligament during England's 4-0 UEFA EURO 2010 qualifying win against Bulgaria on Friday.

Dawson, starting in the absence of regulars Rio Ferdinand and John Terry, was withdrawn after 57 minutes of England's victory at Wembley. He returned to Spurs for a scan and his club have since revealed that they expect the player to be out of action for "six to eight weeks".

Harry Redknapp's side begin their first UEFA Champions League group stage campaign away to SV Werder Bremen on 14 September. They then host Dutch champions FC Twente on 29 September before a double-header against holders FC Internazionale Milano on 20 October and 2 November.
