• FC Nantes extend their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 campaign to 19 games with a 1-0 victory against AS Cannes – the Canaris were beaten just once en route to their seventh title, a French record.

• Raith Rovers FC beat Celtic FC 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to win their first knockout title, the Scottish League Cup, in 111 years of history thanks to Hoops captain Paul McStay's missed spot kick.
