FC København have signed Costa Rica midfielder Cristian Bolaños from Norwegian outfit IK Start on a four-year contract.

The 26-year-old moves for an undisclosed fee and has experience of Danish football having spent two years at Odense BK. København sporting director Carsten V Jensen said: "We always aim to get the best players for each position and Bolaños will fit perfectly in the right midfield of our team."

Winner of 33 caps for his national side, Bolaños scored 12 goals in 44 league games in two seasons with Start. "We have been following Christian's development at Start and I am sure he will contribute positively," Jansen added. "He is a hard-working player, a fast and fine dribbler with a lot of creativity in the final third."

FCK face FC Barcelona, Panathinaikos FC and FC Rubin Kazan in UEFA Champions League Group D and Bolaños added: "I am really looking forward to playing, particularly in the Champions League matches. I know I am joining a very strong team with a lot of good players and I will have to work hard just to make it into the starting lineup."
