AS Roma have signed defender Paolo Castellini on a one-year loan from Parma FC, with an option to make the deal permanent.
The 31-year-old will spend 2010/11 in the Italian capital and possibly longer still if the Giallorossi decide to pay Parma €1m at the end of the season. A product of the US Cremonese youth system, Castellini joins Roma having also taken in spells at Torino FC, Brescia Calcio and Spanish outfit Real Betis Balompié. He moved to Parma in 2006 and made 136 Serie A appearances for the club, scoring one goal. He and Roma will discover the identity of their UEFA Champions League group-stage opponents on Thursday, with the draw due to take place in Monaco.
