UEFA Champions League play-off contenders UC Sampdoria have re-signed Stefano Guberti in a co-ownership transfer from AS Roma, the winger having spent the second half of last season on loan with the Blucerchiati.

Guberti returns to Genoa after scoring twice in 16 Serie A appearances between January and May. The 25-year-old former Ascoli Calcio 1898 player had joined Roma last summer from AS Bari but featured just six times – three as a starter – for the capital club before Christmas. Guberti will hope to be involved when Domenico Di Carlo's team visit SV Werder Bremen in the first leg of their play-off tie on 18 August, six days before the return at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
