Sevilla FC have strengthened ahead of their forthcoming UEFA Champions League play-off by signing midfielder Luca Cigarini on loan from SSC Napoli.
As part of the deal for the former Italian Under-21 international – who scored twice in 28 Serie A appearances last term – Sevilla have the option to make the move permanent. Nurtured at Parma FC, the 24-year-old spent the 2008/09 campaign with Atalanta BC before joining Napoli last summer.
Ramón Rodríguez, Sevilla's sporting director, said: "Technically he's very good and can play with both feet. He sits just in front of the defence and from there channels the play. He's perfectly suited to the type of game we play at this club." The two-time UEFA Cup winners will discover their UEFA Champions League play-off opponents when the draw is made at 12.00CET on Friday in Nyon.
