Manchester United FC's Serbian international defender Nemanja Vidić has ended speculation about his future by agreeing a contract extension with the Old Trafford outfit.
Chief executive David Gill said: "I'm very pleased to confirm that we agreed terms with Nemanja three or four weeks ago on a new long-term deal. He's still away on holiday but the plan is that when he gets back the papers will be signed. It's great news for Manchester United and great news for Nemanja and the fans."
The 28-year-old centre-back, whose existing deal was due to expire in 2012, has won the UEFA Champions League and three English titles since joining United in 2006. Signed from PFC CSKA Moskva, the former FK Crvena Zvezda player has gone on to make 126 Premier League appearances. Sir Alex Ferguson's men will take part in Europe's premier club competition again this season, entering at the group stage.
