Article body
Defender Gianluca Zambrotta has signed a new contract with AC Milan, committing him to the UEFA Champions League group stage contenders until June 2012.
The deal, which represents a 12-month extension to the terms he accepted when joining from FC Barcelona in 2008, gives the full-back the chance of extending his San Siro career and adding to his 58 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri.
The 33-year-old came to Milan after two seasons at Barcelona, having established his reputation during seven campaigns with Juventus, where he lifted two league titles. A FIFA World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, he took his caps total to 97 at the recent finals in South Africa. His decision to re-sign follows the announcement that defender Massimo Oddo had refreshed his terms at San Siro.
