Vitali Rodionov scored the only goal of the game as FC BATE Borisov completed a 6-1 aggregate win against FH Hafnarfjördur to set up up a UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against FC København.
Belarusian champions BATE already had one foot in the next phase after last week's emphatic triumph. They then extinguished any hope their Icelandic counterparts might have had early on thanks to Rodionov, who had completed the scoring in the first leg in Borisov.
Renan Bressan had come close to completing the job just prior to Rodionov's eye-catching 15th-minute effort from outside the penalty area, but was denied by Gunnleifur Gunnleifsson in the FH goal. It was not the last time Bressan was to prove a menace but for Gunnleifsson, Maksim Skavysh provided the biggest threat for much of the game.
Four times the forward spurned one-on-one openings, the last of which came thanks to Bressan's delightful through ball. Skavysh finally called Gunnleifsson into action in second-half added time but the home goalkeeper came up trumps to ensure that he won his personal duel even if his team had long since lost the contest.
