English champions Chelsea FC have made their first summer signing by bringing in attacking midfielder Yossi Benayoun on a three-year contract from Liverpool FC.
The 30-year-old Israeli international, who had spent three seasons at Anfield, will join up with his new team-mates for the start of pre-season training on Monday. "I'm very excited to come to a club like Chelsea," Benayoun said. "It's a big club and a dream for every player. Hopefully we will be successful."
Benayoun returns to London where he previously had a two-year spell at West Ham United FC. The former Maccabi Haifa FC playmaker arrived in England in 2005 after three seasons in the Spanish Liga with Real Racing Club. His new manager Carlo Ancelotti said: "Yossi has a lot of quality in midfield and can play in lots of positions. I like his behaviour on the pitch and he will do a great job for us."
