Fenerbahçe SK have continued to strengthen for the new campaign by signing defender İlhan Eker from Gençlerbirliği SK on a free transfer.
İlhan, a centre-back, has agreed terms on a three-year contract with the Istanbul club. He caught the eye as a consistent performer for Gençlerbirliği during the last two seasons, making 39 Super League appearances.
The Fenerbahçe newcomer came through the youth ranks at Balıkesirspor before turning professional in 2001 with Asaşspor (now Hacettepe SK), whom he helped win promotion to the top flight. He joined Gençlerbirliği in 2008.
Fenerbahçe, who kick off their European campaign in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, also signed Slovakian international midfielder Miroslav Stoch from Chelsea FC earlier this month. İlhan's transfer follows a coaching change at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium, with former player Aykut Kocaman replacing Christoph Daum.
