Sevilla FC midfielder Renato has agreed a one-year contract extension that ties him to the UEFA Champions League qualifiers until June 2012. The former Brazil midfielder has an option to add another two years to the new deal should certain objectives be met, the club confirmed.
Renato, who moved to Sevilla from Santos FC in 2004, scored four goals in 33 league games last season, helping his side to a fourth-place finish in the Liga and a UEFA Champions League play-off berth. Only Jesús Navas of the current squad has been with Sevilla longer than Renato, who has won two UEFA Cups, two Copa del Rey crowns and the UEFA Super Cup during his time in Andalucia.
News of Renato's new terms follows Wednesday's confirmation that coach Antonio Álvarez had signed a deal to remain at the helm for the 2010/11 campaign.
