The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal made by FC Bayern München and has confirmed the three-game suspension imposed by the UEFA Appeals Body on the Bayern player Franck Ribéry.
CAS rendered its final decision at a hearing in Lausanne, Switzerland, today, following the decision taken by UEFA's Appeals Body on 5 May, and as a consequence Ribéry will not be eligible to play in the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid on Saturday.
The Appeals Body had fully upheld the three-match ban handed to Ribéry by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on 28 April when it met earlier this month.
The initial decision made by the body of first instance, the Control and Disciplinary Body, related to Ribéry's sending-off in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Olympique Lyonnais in Munich on 21 April.
The French international winger served one game of the suspension in Bayern's semi-final second leg at Lyon on 27 April, but now misses the UEFA Champions League final against FC Internazionale Milano on 22 May and the next UEFA club competition fixture for which he is eligible.
The reasons for the CAS decision will be published in the coming days.
