Ticket sales for the 2010 UEFA Champions League final – to be played at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid on Saturday 22 May – will begin at 12.00CET on Monday 8 March exclusively via UEFA.com.

The international general public will be able to apply for two tickets per person from an allocation of 11,000 for the showpiece match in the Spanish capital (20.45CET kick-off). The sales window will remain open between 8 March and Friday 19 March at 18.00CET.

Sales will be conducted solely through Europe's football website, UEFA.com, with each applicant having to complete in full the online application form. Should demand exceed supply then every valid request will enter a lottery to decide the allocation.

The net capacity of the Santiago Bernabéu for the UEFA Champions League final will be 75,000, with the vast majority of tickets reserved for either the general public – neutral fans wishing to attend a great footballing spectacle – or supporters of the two finalist clubs.

The finalist clubs will receive 21,000 tickets apiece, to distribute directly to their fans, meaning a total of 42,000 tickets for their supporters, on top of the 11,000 made available worldwide via UEFA.com. These figures include 2,000 youth packages each (comprising 1,000 tickets for children and 1,000 for accompanying adults) for the finalists and 1,000 youth packages for the international general public. Junior tickets in the youth package are sold at a 50% discount, adult ones at full price. A further 500 tickets will be kept for children participating in youth activities at the UEFA Champions Festival.

UEFA Club Competitions Committee chairman Michael van Praag said of the ticketing concept for this UEFA Champions League final: "The tickets that go on sale on 8 March are destined for the general public, including local Spanish fans, and will be available online via UEFA.com. We must seek to inspire the next generation of football players and fans, and what better way to do so than by having a ringside seat to watch two of the best European club sides, with some of the best players in the world, on the ultimate stage."

The remaining tickets will be allocated to the European football family, including UEFA, the local organising committee, national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters.

Every valid general-public application will go into the lottery provided it is made within the application period. Each successful candidate will be entitled to a maximum of two tickets. With the submission to UEFA.com of their request, the applicant accepts the ticketing terms and conditions. Ticket price categories open to the international general public are: Category 1 – €300 (youth package €450); Category 2 – €225; Category 3 – €155 (youth package €232.50); and Category 4 (€90).

The administrative fee is €25 (including postal charges) for successful applicants in Spain, €32 for neutral fans in Europe and €45 for the rest of the world. Payment is by credit card (MasterCard and Visa) only.

Applicants will be informed via email by 31 March if they have been successful or not, with tickets being dispatched from 23 April by secure mail. Candidates will be able to check the status of their application from 1 April using their UEFA.com log-in information.

For further ticketing information, contact CATSA – the service company appointed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation and Real Madrid CF – by emailing uclf2010madrid@cat.es or by telephoning +34 952 367 290 (international) or 902 22 01 22 (Spain) between 09.00 and 21.00, Monday to Friday.

Action will be taken in cases of infringement. Online applications will be checked against police data to ensure that anyone banned from stadiums is unsuccessful in any attempt to purchase tickets. Persons attending the final are warned that tickets will be personalised and that security checks at the stadium are planned. UEFA underlines that no tickets are being distributed via agencies or brokers. UEFA also encourages fans not to be lured into deals with touts who not only demand exorbitant prices but often are not in possession of the tickets they purport to have for sale.
