FC Bayern München goalkeeper Hans-Jörg Butt has extended his contract by one year until June 2011.
The 35-year-old, capped three time by Germany, joined Bayern in 2008 from SL Benfica as back-up to Michael Rensing and broke into the team last March. Butt has been first choice this season and was ever-present in the UEFA Champions League group stage, scoring a penalty against Juventus on Matchday 6 to help earn his side a first knockout round tie against ACF Fiorentina, with the home leg on Wednesday.
"We've been delighted with Jörg's performances and we're pleased that he'll be available to us for another season," said club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Butt, who helped Bayer 04 Leverkusen to the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League final and previously played for Hamburger SV, added: "I'm really happy at Bayern and I'm pleased that I have been given the opportunity to continue my successful time at the club." Thomas Müller, Holger Badstuber and Daniel Van Buyten have all agreed extensions to their deals at Bayern in recent days.
