Goalkeeper Vito Mannone has promised to "repay the club for the faith they have shown in me" after agreeing an undisclosed long-term contract at Arsenal FC.
Valuable cover
The Italian Under-21 international has put pen to paper following a breakthrough season at the Gunners, playing eight times – three in the UEFA Champions League – as cover for Manuel Almunia and Łukasz Fabiański. Mannone, 21, arrived in north London from Atalanta BC in summer 2005, and made his debut on the final day of last season in a 4-1 win against Stoke City FC. Arsenal are yet to lose a game with the youngster in the side.
