Olympique Lyonnais coach Claude Puel has moved to bolster his defence with the signing of Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren on a four-and-a-half-year contract from NK Dinamo Zagreb.

Problem area
Lovren, 20, joins for an undisclosed fee and will reinforce a back line that at times this term has been shorn of the likes of Anderson, Jean-Alain Boumsong and François Clerc through injury. Lovren began his career with Dinamo having also enjoyed a spell on loan at NK Inter Zaprešić during the 2007/08 season. He played every minute of Dinamo's UEFA Europa League Group A campaign. Lyon came second in UEFA Champions League Group E and now face Real Madrid CF in the first knockout round first leg on 16 February.
