Ryan Giggs has signed a new one-year contract at Manchester United FC, making 2010/11 his 21st season in the first team at the club where he has spent his entire senior career.
Record feat
The 36-year-old former Welsh international winger has made 821 appearances for United, scoring 151 goals, and has been part of eleven English title wins – a record for one player. The reiging PFA Player of the Year, Giggs was also a UEFA Champions League winner in 1999 and 2008 and has made more appearances for United than any other player.
Delight
"I am delighted that I have agreed one more year," said Giggs, who could be reunited with former team-mate David Beckham in the UEFA Champions League after United were drawn with AC Milan in the first knockout round today. "I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United." Manager Sir Alex Ferguson added: "Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years. His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football."
