Ryan Giggs has signed a new one-year contract at Manchester United FC, making 2010/11 his 21st season in the first team at the club where he has spent his entire senior career.

Record feat
The 36-year-old former Welsh international winger has made 821 appearances for United, scoring 151 goals, and has been part of eleven English title wins – a record for one player. The reiging PFA Player of the Year, Giggs was also a UEFA Champions League winner in 1999 and 2008 and has made more appearances for United than any other player.

Delight
"I am delighted that I have agreed one more year," said Giggs, who could be reunited with former team-mate David Beckham in the UEFA Champions League after United were drawn with AC Milan in the first knockout round today. "I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United." Manager Sir Alex Ferguson added: "Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years. His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football."

Ryan Giggs is among the nominees for the uefa.com users' Team of 2009. To see the full list and vote, click here.
