FC Internazionale Milano will be without Walter Samuel for the rest of the year after the centre-back sustained a thigh injury during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League victory over FC Rubin Kazan.
Hamstring strain
The 31-year-old limped off after only 15 minutes at San Siro – where Inter won 2-0 to claim the runners-up berth in Group F and a place in the first knockout round – and a scan today revealed a hamstring strain that will keep Samuel sidelined until 2010. The Argentinian international has already started his rehabilitation, but will not link up with the squad again until early January. There was better news for the Nerazzurri, however, as Dejan Stanković, replaced early in the second half against Rubin, has suffered just a bruise to his right thigh and is expected to be fit for Sunday's Serie A visit to Atalanta BC.
