Described as an "important player" by Arsène Wenger, Cameroonian international Alex Song has earned reward for his growing stature at Arsenal FC by signing a four-year contract extension tying him to the north London side until 2014.
'Continued contribution'
The 22-year-old Song joined the Gunners from SC Bastia in July 2006 and has carved out a regular place in the club's midfield over the last two seasons, also displaying valuable versatility by filling in at centre-back. A club statement said: "Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is looking forward to Alex's continued contribution in the forthcoming years." Eduardo and teenager Sanchez Watt have also signed new contracts over a profitable past week, which saw Arsenal confirm their place in the UEFA Champions League first knockout round with a 2-0 defeat of R. Standard de Liège on Tuesday.
