Arsenal tie Eduardo to long-term deal

Croatia striker Eduardo says he hopes to stay at Arsenal FC "for as long as I can" after the announcement that he has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the Premier League side.

Courageous comeback
Eduardo has endured a fitful time in North London since moving from NK Dinamo Zagreb in July 2007, suffering a broken leg in January 2008 that ruled him out of action for nearly a year. "Eduardo is a human being full of courage, bravery and commitment," said Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. "Eduardo is a special player with huge talent and natural goalscoring ability, and we're all so happy that he has committed his future to Arsenal Football Club."

Trophy hunt
The 26-year-old has scored two UEFA Champions League goals this season and a further two in Croatia's failed qualification campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. "I'm very happy and I hope to stay at Arsenal for as long as I can," said the 28-cap striker. "We feel we are strong now and we're all going to give everything to win trophies." The Gunners, who are second in the Premier League, sit top of UEFA Champions League Group H, needing just a point from their Matchday 5 home meeting with R. Standard de Liège to rubber-stamp qualification to the first knockout round.
