FC Bayern München winger Arjen Robben faces surgery after injuring his right knee during Wednesday's goalless draw against Juventus, though the Bundesliga club were relieved to learn the prognosis is not as bad as first feared.
Relief
Robben was substituted after 44 minutes at the Fußball Arena München and tests this morning revealed he will be out for up to a month. "It is not such a bad injury," Bayern coach Louis van Gaal said. "The meniscus and ligaments are intact. We're lucky there are international matches next week." Nevertheless, the Dutch international is likely to miss Bayern's next UEFA Champions League Group A game on 21 October at FC Girondins de Bordeaux and possibly the return in Munich on 3 November as well. The 25-year-old has scored twice in six matches since signing from Real Madrid CF.
