UEFA Champions League debutants AZ Alkmaar have completed the signing of 21-year-old Swedish midfield player Rasmus Elm for a fee believed to be in the region of €3m.
Sweden's greatest talent
Elm signed a four-year contract with last season's Eredivisie champions, opting for a move to the Netherlands despite interest from more than one English Premier League club. He arrives from Swedish titleholders Kalmar FF and carries with him with the tag of 'Sweden's greatest talent', as bestowed on him by national coach Lars Lagerbäck.
Positive feeling
"I have a very positive feeling about this club," said Elm, whose brother Viktor plays in the Dutch league with SC Heerenveen. "My brother Viktor already told me AZ are very professional and that they have a good team. Viktor asked me to join Heerenveen, but I did not listen to him." Elm made his full Sweden debut in January this year and subsequently caught the eye with his displays for the hosts at this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
