Juventus have signed defender Martín Cáceres on loan from FC Barcelona with an option to sign the Uruguayan international on a permanent basis next summer.
One-year stay
The 22-year-old centre-back will spend the season with Barcelona's fellow UEFA Champions League group stage contenders Juve, and could remain in Turin for longer in return for a fee of at least €11m. He joined Barcelona for €16.5m last summer, having impressed in his season's loan to RC Recreativo de Huelva which immediately followed his 2007 signing by Villarreal CF from Defensor SC. But he was only able to play a part in 23 competitive matches for the treble-winners, an unused substitute in the UEFA Champions League final defeat of Manchester United FC.
