Chelsea FC midfielder John Mikel Obi has signed a new five-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2014.

'Easy' decision
The 22-year-old Nigerian international, who moved to Stamford Bridge in 2006, said: "It was easy to commit because I am happy here and when the opportunity came it was good to sign." Mikel has played 85 league games in three seasons with the Blues and follows Florent Malouda in putting pen to paper on a new deal over the summer. Chelsea start their 2009/10 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
